Part 3 SEO QA - SEO Beginners Questions Answered

Below is the list of questions that were used to reach this blog. Here are the straight answers for the search query.

(1) How to add H tag in content?

H tag can be used for page headings. Suppose if you have body content with different sub sections then you can use H1 tags for main heading and H2 tags for sub headings. In total there are H1, H2, H3, H4, H5 and H6.

Note - You may apply your own style for H tags based on the site theme.

(2) How blog help SEO?

(3) How to configure SEO URL on blogger?

In Blogger platform, your post Title is the Post URL, so make sure the title has the best suited topic name with keywords around.

(4) Will SEO change for iPad compatible websites?

Before considering SEO for search engines, users experience has to be considered for iPad compatible websites. Make sure that the site is displayed properly with proper page navigation for iPad devices. On other side make sure that the mobile xml sitemap is created and submitted in Google webmaster tools.

(5) How can improve SEO using site map?

Different level navigation links can be mentioned in the sitemap. Mainly the deep links have to be included in the sitemap as the crawler might find difficult to find the deep links. If it is a large site then a dynamic site map is recommended.

(6) How does Google consider submission to paid directories?

(8) How to rank a keyword through SEO?

The page should have unique content that interests the users for the specific topic (keyword(s)). The page should have well defined title, Meta tags and topic name in URL and right natural backlinks for the specific keyword(s). Read more on Keywords 101.

(9) How to use keywords density examples?

Keyword density may vary from 2 - 8% based on the competition. The topic that is best than you competitors wins the result. Read more on Understanding Keyword Density.

(10) Keyword frequency in Meta description

There is no fixed numbers on keywords used in Meta description. Make sure that you don’t stuff keywords. I see keywords repeated on an average of 2 times in Meta description and most important is that the page should have quality content.

(11) Google tips for content on a welcome page

The “welcome” page should have at least a short note about the site, its services or products & location that is been marketed.

(12) Google SEO title vs. alt

Title and alt are used for images to describe what the image is all about. Different browsers use different format display the move over text for images. Google spiders will be getting the information of the image by reading the title or alt attribute from the source code. So using either way is fine. Read more on Alt attribute.

Part 2 SEO QA - SEO Newbie's Questions Answered

In continuation with the previous post, here are some more common questions I see in my Google Analytics log. The post help to get direct answers for the question.

(1) How many words can I use in H1 tags?

H1 tags are for page headings. There are no fixed numbers. Have H1 tag meaning full for page body content that helps users and search engines to understand better. Normally 4 to 5 words are seen around as maximum and they were meaningful.

(2) Can I use the same article content in different articles site?

No you should not. Have one article per site. Do not duplicate. Make sure that the articles site is not a scrapper site.

(3) Does Google prioritize search results?

Yes Google lists search results based on website popularity and the factors includes links to your site, search engine friendly structure, quality content and many other factors. Follow Google guidelines to increase your online presence.

(4) How to get listed higher in Google?

Your site should meet Google guidelines provided the site should have relevant backlinks for your users search keywords and should have quality resources (articles, news etc). If it is a service site, build internal links from your resources.

(5) How often does Google crawl?

There is no fixed time interval. Crawls are based on backlinks, content updates, PageRank and many other factors. Build crawler-friendly pages by following Google guidelines.

(6) What is the Google panda factor?

Panda is a filter that finds low-quality pages. If you have too many low-quality pages then the site will be flagged. Read more on Google panda factor checklist.

(7) What are more important backlinks according to Google?

Backlinks that are related to your site theme and the linking site should have related content around.

(8) What does the term keyword prominence refer to?

Keyword prominence refers to the priority given for the keywords in top content, Title, H tags and Meta tags.

(9) What directories does Google like?

Human edited directories are linked most.

(10) Should I mention sitemap in robots.txt file?

Mentioning sitemap XML in robots.txt helps spiders to know the location of the sitemap.

Here are the lists of common questions I see in my Google Analytics. Below is the straight answer to the questions that would help the SEO starters.

(1) How to get pages indexed on Google, Yahoo & Bing?

In addition configure your site to Google & Bing Webmaster tools

(2) How to list your website with Google in one day?

Add your site to Google (www.google.com/addurl) and also configure your site to Google Webmaster tools (www.google.com/webmasters). Use www.yourdomain.com to check whether your site is included in Google.

And if you are expecting to list you site for the site keywords then it would take time. Google lists the site based on the website popularity and website structure. This is a long term process.

(3) How to make sure your content is SEO ready?

You can check the keyword density of the content WRT to your service or products. Compare your content with your competitors. Write content for your visitors and not for search engines.

(4) How to submit website to Google, Yahoo & Bing search engines?

Google spider’s looks the pages title to know what the content is all about. Importance is given to the titles based on the page relevancy. Top content are give more importance includes Title words, Meta description and body content.

(12) Can Google see dropdown as keyword stuffing?

If the dropdown text helps users to understand better then it will not fall under keyword stuffing.
